The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele has revealed why there is a high chance that Alexander Isak joins Liverpool this summer.
Although the Reds have signed Florian Wirtz, if Isak join Liverpool, it will represent arguably the biggest coup of the summer.
The Swedish striker has been one of the best strikers in Europe in the last two seasons or so.
Signed by Newcastle United from Real Sociedad, Isak has grown into a proper marksman.
9 position at Liverpool.
Although Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have their strengths, Slot does not appear to completely trust them.
Nunez is set for a switch to Napoli, while Jota is also likely to be sold this summer if the right offer comes.
As we exclusively revealed a few weeks back, Liverpool will sign a new striker once Nunez’s exit is confirmed.
One player that has been discussed internally as a potential target for that position is Isak.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool had considered Isak their “dream target since day one.
However, Newcastle’s valuation of the Swede is thought to be a major hindrance in a possible deal.
But Daily Mail Merseyside correspondent Lewis Steele has argued why a move to Isak is not out of the realms of possibility for Liverpool.
Speaking to the Mail’s Whistleblowers podcast, Steele revealed that the fact that Newcastle are already talking about a possible transfer fee for Isak suggests that the club are open to the idea of selling the 25-year-old.
“There’s every possibility that Liverpool go for him”, Steele told the podcast.
“It’s definitely not impossible.
When clubs do that, it’s usually a sign of something.
“Is it likely though.
I would still say the odds are still around 30 per cent.”
Having already secured four major signings this summer, Liverpool appear to be positioning themselves for one final blockbuster move.
Should they secure Isak, it will send a very strong statement to rival clubs and certainly win over the few fans that have been critical of the club’s owners FSG and their spending.
