Reports say that Newcastle are in advanced talks over a potential move for the forward.
A £60 million outlay, for a player who would provide competition to Isak could potentially lead to Newcastle even starting to consider a sale of the Sweden international, something that could spring Liverpool into action.
Newcastle have been holding ‘quiet talks’ with Isak behind the scenes and are relaxed about the player’s situation, according to our sister site ChronicleLive.
The report adds that the club don’t have to sell the player and that there are no fears internally that Isak will push for a move away from the club this summer.
They are said to be in no position to sell and will not be pressured by interested clubs.
Eddie Howe is also expected to be a big part of negotiations with the player over a new contract at St James’ Park.
Reports elsewhere state that the club will be looking for a fee of at least £150 million if they were to sell this summer.
Liverpool are ready to play the waiting game over a move for Isak this summer.
