Liverpool will keep a close watch of events at Newcastle United as the domino effect could very well unlock a 'dream' summer signing of Alexander Isak.
The first of those to tumble looks likeliest to be Joao Pedro, the striker being lined up as the next mega money arrival at St.
James' Park.
With over £200 million worth of fresh talent set to introduce themselves to Arne Slot's Premier League-winning squad when pre-season training kicks off in nine days' time, Liverpool still have the financial wriggle room to manoeuvre for any more signings they feel necessary.
One idea on the cards is that they will provide the head coach with the striker that his side went without for large periods of the 2024/25 campaign.
In regard to who that may be, the market is so delicate at present that there may only be sense in paying top dollar for one of the world's best in Isak.

That said, it seems significant hurdles are going to have to be cleared if Liverpool are going to stand a serious chance of landing the Swedish ace.
One is simply waiting until July 1, as that is the day the accountancy period resets from last season to the next.

The Reds have a number of fringe players who can be sold to supplement their already strong financial footing and there is the possibility of Darwin Nunez's sale to open up both physical space and funds to move for a new No.9.
But seemingly it is Newcastle who look better positioned to send the first domino tumbling with the signing of a new striker.
Advanced talks are underway to recruit Brighton's Brazilian Pedro and they have even reached the offer stage.
James' Park and radio station talkSPORT suggest the Magpies will not simply give up on their top target, they will go in for round two with a higher offer.
Now, Newcastle's search for another forward comes down to a lack of depth across Howe's forward line, especially on the right side following Miguel Almiron's January sale plus also through the centre now that Isak's back-up, Callum Wilson, is departing at the end of his contract.
As Pedro holds the ability to play multiple roles he would be a valuable asset but at heart he is a striker and a fully fledged starter in the Premier League nowadays at that.

His own desire won't be to simply sit behind Isak in the pecking order and onlookers may turn their noses up thinking that the day a £60m forward becomes a benchwarmer, the game will be well and truly gone.
Liverpool can therefore hope that cracks will begin to appear in Newcastle's resilient persona over keeping Isak once a new striker is through the door, even if for now it would appear Pedro is lined up to a be a teammate of the 25-year-old as opposed to his replacement.
If there is any indication there is a deal to be done, Anfield chiefs will just have to be ready in that moment.
