Alexander Isak hit the headlines this week after issuing a damning statement in which he said his relationship with Newcastle United is now over.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, with the Premier League champions already seeing a £110m bid rejected earlier this month.
The Sweden international broke his silence on the ongoing transfer saga - involving him and the Magpies - by releasing a statement on social media on Tuesday night.
Isak accused the club of 'broken promises' and spoke of a 'loss of trust', reaffirming his desire to leave.
But while Newcastle responded a couple of hours later to say they were disappointed at the striker's message, they did leave the door open for the 25-year-old to return to the fold.

However, having missed Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa last weekend, Isak is once again expected to play no part in his side's first home game of the season against the Reds on Monday night.
And having already had one bid rejected, Liverpool now appear to be awaiting further encouragement as to whether they should make another move.
But, speaking on an episode of The Overlap earlier this month, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher said he believed Isak would be a Liverpool player by the end of the window.
However, the former England international also claimed there would be no way a deal would be done before Liverpool make the trip to St James' Park.
"Just a little point, as well, a little problem as well is that Liverpool and Newcastle play each other the second game of the season at St James'," he said.
"It is Monday Night Football and there is no way that the deal gets done before then."
Addressing the situation with Isak on Friday, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said: "I think it is a lose-lose situation to a degree for us because I don't think we can come out of this winning in any situation.
"That is why I have said all summer it is a difficult situation for the club to manage.
“We love Alex in the sense of what he has done for this football club since he has been here, what he has contributed, what he has given, how professional he's been and this has just been an unfortunate few months that looks like it is coming to an end.
