Alexander Isak could become a Liverpool player sooner rather than later.(Image: PA)Newcastle United appear closer to appeasing Alan Shearer - and resolving the Alexander Isak transfer saga - by closing in on signing Nick Woltemade.
The Magpies are said to have agreed a £65million deal with Stuttgart that would seemingly open the door for their current striker to depart before the deadline.
Newcastle also appear to still be in talks with Wolves over Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Brentford star Yoane Wissa also appears to remain an alternative should discussions with Wolves not result in an agreement.
The Magpies signing either would, presumably, increase the chances of reaching a resolution between Liverpool, Newcastle and Isak, which Shearer wants to happen this week.

"It has to be resolved," Shearer said on Tuesday during an episode of The Rest is Football.
"They can't go through to next Monday again.
"They've got Leeds [United] on Saturday.
It's just been going on and on.
"I know the chairman was in Newcastle last night, so my guess would be that something has to be sorted out in the next two or three days.
"It can't drag on into the weekend again.
"One way or the other, it has to be resolved."
