Alexander Isak remains on the fringes at Newcastle United amid continued speculation over his future.
The Sweden international has attracted strong interest from Premier League champions Liverpool, who have seen an initial bid rejected.
That offer reportedly fell well short of Newcastle’s valuation, which is believed to be around £150million.
Isak has already made it clear to the club that he wishes to leave this summer.
The Newcastle first-team squad returned to training in the UK on Wednesday following their pre-season tour of the Far East – a trip Isak opted out of due to a thigh injury.
However, he was notably absent from the main group training session and only arrived at the training ground around later after the rest of the squad had departed.
Following Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in Seoul, manager Eddie Howe issued a firm warning, stating that any player who steps out of line would face consequences.
He said: “You have to earn the right to train with us.
We are Newcastle United.
“The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad – you have to act in the right way?
So that is also at play here.
“We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group.
“No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.”
Since joining Newcastle for £63million in 2022, Alexander Isak has scored 62 goals in 109 games, including the winner in the League Cup final against Liverpool – the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years.
According to Newcastle World, Isak alone arrived at Magpies’ Benton training base with only a coach for company after the rest of the group had departed Benton on Thursday.
The Sweden international, who has three years left on his contract, is set to miss Newcastle United’s friendlies against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid.
