Alexander Isak continues to be furiously linked to Liverpool.

The story of the summer has just taken another twist, as the Reds continue to agitate Newcastle United.

It is clear that Isak wants out, as it has been for some time now, but Newcastle are holding firm on their viewpoint that they have to replace Isak before letting him go.

A task, that is appearing to be more and more difficult as the window progresses.

Their latest failure on securing a striker target took the form of Benjamin Sesko, as the Slovenian forward opted to join Manchester United when presented with the choice of joining one or the other.

Liverpool are happy to wait, as they are aware of Isak’s preference to join them, and they will choose to watch the story develop at Newcastle, rather than jumping in with a higher bid when it may not be necessary if the relationship between the player and the club continues to deteriorate.

Luke Edwards, Northern Football Writer for the Telegraph, has just dropped an exclusive that adds another twist to an already very complex and complicated tale.

The article reads: “Alexander Isak has been told by the Newcastle United board that he is not for sale this summer and he will not be allowed to join Liverpool, in a show of defiance from the club’s Saudi owners.”

Alexander Isak has reportedly been furious with the decision, and as a result has been ordered to train away from the squad by Eddie Howe.

Eddie Howe on Isak’s exclusion from team training: “We’ve had discussions and it’s clear at the moment that we can’t involve him with the group.

I don’t know how long that will be for, but that’s the latest.”

The Newcastle manager does not see the situation changing before Newcastle’s opening Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa.
