Alexander Isak returned to England today after recently training alone at his previous club Real Sociedad, amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Liverpool are the front-runners to sign him this summer, given his clear preference to join the Reds, and he is pushing for a move away from Newcastle.

The Tyneside club will demand a British record transfer fee to allow him to leave the club, but Liverpool have the financial means to complete the deal and are pushing hard to get it over the line as they continue to revamp their squad.

The Reds have just won the Premier League title, and they view Alexander Isak as the missing piece that will then allow them to not only retain the title but chuck some more silverware in there too.

Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s first formal bid yesterday, as the bid came too soon, with Newcastle not yet having a replacement lined up.

Today, Newcastle bid for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and we are awaiting the Bundesliga side’s decision.

If Benjamin Sesko joins Newcastle, the door will be very much open for Alexander Isak to make the switch to Merseyside.

There were reports surfacing yesterday that Liverpool did not intend to bid again after their first rejection due to the nature of Newcastle’s dismissal, but Sacha Tavolieri has denied such claims.

His post on X reads: “Liverpool FC never left out the race for Alexander Isak, at all… new round of talks has been scheduled early next week to advance on an agreement with Newcastle United.”

“As revealed, Isak only wants LFC, has made it clear with NUFC and will make it clear again.

So, despite reports, the hunt continues, and Liverpool will continue to pursue the Swedish striker.
