Newcastle could face another approach for Alexander Isak despite Liverpool switching their focus to a move for Hugo Ekitike.

As a result, the Merseyside giants are no longer chasing Isak's signature.

Newcastle are still at risk of losing the Swedish forward, though, with reports suggesting that Al-Hilal are plotting a big-money approach of their own.

They are considering a 'massive offer' to bring Isak to the Saudi Pro League, according to Sky Sport Italy.

However, the report adds that Newcastle are still determined to avoid selling the 25-year-old before the end of the window.

Both clubs are owned by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia, but this would not pose any issues regarding a potential transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will change their stance on selling Isak in light of Al-Hilal's reported interest.

He remains tied down until the summer of 2028, meaning the Magpies are under no immediate pressure to cash in.

Isak is unlikely to be keen on moving to the Saudi Pro League following an impressive campaign last term.

He scored 27 goals in 42 appearances, helping Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup.

The striker's output also helped the Magpies to qualify for the Champions League and he will be keen to prove himself against some of the best teams in the world next season.

For now, it seems likely that Newcastle will resist any bids from Al-Hilal with Eddie Howe making it clear that he is opposed to selling the forward.

Speaking earlier this year, he said: "Alexander is not for sale.
