Liverpool have been handed an update regarding Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle United.

The Reds have a long-standing interest in the Sweden international, whose name continues to be mentioned on the rumour mill this summer.

It was earlier this month that Liverpool saw a £110million bid rejected by the Magpies for Isak.



The ECHO has reported that the Reds have no plans to submit a second offer for the striker as things stand, due to the nature of the response from Newcastle to the first bid.

Despite this stance, Isak is continuing to be linked with a move to Liverpool, and now a fresh update has emerged on his future.

Give Me Sport is reporting that there is still a chance that Isak has a future at Newcastle despite making it clear that he wants to join Liverpool.

The report claims that if the Reds were to withdraw completely from the running to sign Isak, then the striker would consider linking up with his teammates in training and be part of the Magpies squad once again.

Chronicle Live reported earlier this month that Isak had been told by the club to train on his own away from the rest of the Newcastle squad.

This decision came after the 25-year-old did not travel to the Far East for the club's pre-season tour, and was instead reported to be in Spain working on his fitness at the training base of his former club, Real Sociedad.
