Alexander Isak transfer value claim made amid ongoing Liverpool transfer saga

Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool from Newcastle United.

Isak is currently training alone, having indicated his desire to leave the club despite having three years left on his contract.

The Magpies have already rejected a £110m offer for the forward from Liverpool this summer, with the forward believed to be keen on a move to Anfield.

The 25-year-old also issued a statement last week claiming promises made to him by the club have been 'broken' and 'the relationship can’t continue'.

It has been claimed throughout the summer that if Newcastle were to sell they would want a fee of £150m for the former Real Sociedad man.

However, according to the latest CIES Football Observatory update, if Liverpool pay that price it would see them paying over the odds.

They estimate a fair price for Isak to be at between €99 million and €112 million (£85.4m-£99.2m).

The price has risen slightly from the estimated maximum value of €113 million (£97.4m) earlier this month.

The study uses a statistical model to estimate a player’s value with factors including the player’s age, performance, contract length, international status and the level they currently play at, all taken into account.

Speaking on Monday, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was asked about a meeting involving members of the Newcastle hierarchy and Isak before the game.

He said: “I’ve not been party to talks on this for a long time now.

I think that is where my energy is best put at the moment.

“We want clarity, we want to move forward, we want the narrative to change because we’re in the start of the season now.

“We’re into the action and we’ve got to get results, and we’ve got to try to focus on what we can control.
