Alexander Isak has spoken for the first time as a Liverpool player, having finally secured his long-awaited move to Merseyside.

The striker’s signing was confirmed after the summer transfer window closed in the UK, with a $169 million deal having been agreed with Newcastle late on Sunday following the 1-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield.

Isak completed his medical at the AXA Training Centre on Monday, with his transfer seeing Liverpool break the Premier League record for the second time this summer, having already signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that could reach $157M in total with add-ons.

Isak’s future has of course dominated headlines throughout the summer, with the 25-year-old having been pushing for a move to Liverpool for some time.

Having been forced to train alone by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, Isak is yet to make an appearance this season, having been left out of the Magpies’ three Premier League games so far, including their defeat at home to Liverpool last month.

Isak could now make his debut for his new club when the Reds take on Burnley on September 14 following the international break, with the striker set to link up with Sweden before then.
