Trent Alexander-Arnold has left Liverpool ahead of his contract expiry.

Alexander-Arnold announced that he would cut ties with his boyhood club earlier this month when the existing deal was set to run at the end of June.

But the Reds confirmed on Friday that they have agreed to the full-back’s early release as he finalises a widely anticipated move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are understood to have agreed to pay a nominal €10 million (£8.4m) fee for Alexander-Arnold to jon them earlier than scheduled.

It means that the 26-year-old will be eligible to feature for Xabi Alonso’s side in the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on June 14.
