Alexis Mac Allister said that Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is the "best center-back in the world" and named his Argentina teammate as a dream signing for Liverpool.
Mac Allister — who recently addressed James Tarkowski's horror challenge on him — and Romero have enjoyed vast success at international level in recent years, winning the World Cup and the Copa America together in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
And Liverpool's star midfielder, who finished the season with an injury, had nothing but praise for the 27-year-old when he was asked which of his international teammates he would most like the Reds to sign.
"Oh, Cuti (Romero)," Mac Allister said.
For me, he's been the best center-back in the world for several years."

Liverpool fans might find it strange to hear a Liverpool player name somebody other than Virgil van Dijk as the best center-back in the world, but Mac Allister did make sure to praise his club captain.
“Van Dijk, with his height, already commands a lot of respect," Mac Allister said.
While Romero was on international duty earlier this month, featuring in World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia, Mac Allister was left out of the Argentina squad after missing Liverpool's last two games of the season.
Mac Allister made it clear last week that he wasn't happy with his omission.

Mac Allister's final start of the season for Liverpool came in the title-clinching 5-1 win over Tottenham at the end of April, and after substitute outings against Chelsea and Arsenal in the Reds' following two games, the decision was taken for the midfielder to sit out the remainder of the season.
