The saga was marked by a tense standoff, with Isak publicly expressing frustration over broken promises at Newcastle and even training apart from the squad during the summer
Despite Newcastle’s initial rejection of Liverpool’s bids, the deal was finalized on transfer deadline day after a drawn-out battle.
Now speaking to TNT Sports, Alexis Mac Allister has shared how the Reds squad was felt about the soap opera that was Isak’s transfer to the club:
“At the beginning it was a big thing.
After we got a little bit tired of it because it was too long,” he said.
“We are so happy to have him because we know the player he is.
We have suffered him a couple of times as well.”
The Liverpool N.10 also feels that Newcastle United are “not happy” with how the whole situation panned out:
“The other club are not happy but that’s the way football works and in the end they paid quite a lot of money so it’s good for both clubs, and for him because he got what he wanted.”
He added that the summer spending spree does not guarantee success even though he feels the club is happy with the business:
“I think everyone is really pleased with the transfer window.
You have to build a team and I think we are in that process.”
“There is no doubt about the quality of the players that have come in but then you have to build a team and understand each other?
I think we are in that process and in the end, that’s what we want, to win.”
Liverpool is next in action for the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday for a 12:30pm BST kick-off.
Arne Slot has confirmed a full bill of health for his squad, while keeping the cards close to his chest regarding Isak’s inclusion.
