Alexis Mac Allister says he was surprised at the ease with which Liverpool won the Premier League this season and has revealed he hopes this is the "beginning of something great".
The Reds clinched a record-equaling 20th league title with four games to go after thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield on April 27.
Prior to the season beginning, though, many predicted that Liverpool would be in for a difficult campaign and would struggle to qualify for the Champions League after the talismanic Jurgen Klopp walked away from his post at the end of last season.

But that wasn't to be the case as his successor, Arne Slot, made light work of his debut season in England and guided Liverpool to a second Premier League title success in five years, with the Reds 15 points clear of nearest challengers Arsenal.
Prior to Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, Liverpool had won 32 of their 34 Premier League games this season, leaving Slot's men on course to tally the third-highest points total in the club's history (94).
And Mac Allister has admitted that such form, which included a first league double over Manchester City in nine years, was surprising given the nature of the changes at Anfield during the off-season.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, Mac Allister said: "I didn't feel that we were going to win the league as easily as we did, because we are in a process that is just getting started.
"For many, it was a big change.
The coach and the team know that we can continue to improve, and hopefully this is the beginning of something great."
The midfielder, who made the move to Anfield in June 2023, played a key role on the historic day that saw the Reds able to celebrate a league title in front of supporters for the first time in 35 years as his spectacular strike put the Reds 2-1 up against Tottenham.

And given the importance of the goal, it is no surprise to hear that it already has a special place in the heart of the 2022 World Cup winner.
"The goal against Tottenham is the most important goal of my career," said Mac Allister.
"I don't know if it's the best I've ever scored, but it's definitely the most important.
"I'm happy with the season I've had.
But I always said that I depend a lot on my team, I met players who helped me a lot in my game."
