Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and his partner, Ailen Cova, have announced the birth of their daughter in a heartfelt social media post.

The announcement has been flooded with messages of congratulations from teammates.

The announcement of the birth of Alaia was shared in a joint post on Instagram, which includes heartwarming pictures of the couple holding their new daughter.



Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai replied with two red heart emojis.



Former Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold, who completed a summer move to Real Madrid, wrote: “Congratulations” along with three red heart emojis.

Fellow summer departee Kostas Tsimikas also sent two red heart emojis.

Federico Chiesa’s wife, Lucy Bramani, wrote: “Welcome to the world Alaia.” Darwin Nunez’s partner, Lorena Manas, wrote a message which translates to: “Congratulations, Daddy!”.

Nunez was among those to ‘like’ the post, were Hugo Ekitike, Curtis Jones, Jeremie Frimpong, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Chiesa, Andy Robertson and Wataru Endo.

The announcement comes just days after Mac Allister confirmed that he wasn’t in attendance for Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony due to personal reasons.

Writing on his Instagram at the time, he said: "Won't be able to attend @ballondorofficial ceremony today for personal reasons, all the best for everyone, enjoy!"

The midfielder played an hour of Saturday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday as the Reds came out as 2-1 winners.
