The Premier League champions spent £450million on ten new players during the most recent transfer window, as they look to retain the title.
On top of the multiple additions, Liverpool also earned around £225m from player sales, as they oversaw the sale of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez in particular have hit the ground running at their new respective clubs – Bayern Munich and Al-Hilal.
Diaz netted the decisive goal on his debut in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Vfb Stuttgart before scoring a goal and registering two assists on his Bundesliga debut.
No time wasted at all for the Colombian who has got straight down to business at this new home.
Darwin Nunez has also registered a goal for his new club, netting during his second match for the Saudi Pro League side, against Al-Qadsiah.
Both players played significant roles in Liverpool’s Premier League title win last season and with the news becoming known that they both looked to depart this summer, Liverpool hastily scanned the market for suitable replacements.
The Reds decided on three players in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.
A trio that forced Liverpool to negotiate deals worth up to £320m.
Alexander Isak is set to make his debut against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, and whilst Wirtz is experiencing a mixed start to his Liverpool career, Ekitike is up and firing, scoring three goals and providing an assist in his first five appearances.
As the new players continue to settle in, Alisson Becker has admitted the collective desire that they need to get better.
Despite winning their first four games of the season, they have mostly been thanks to last gasp winners and dramatic moments, a pattern that can’t continue.
The Brazilian shot stopper goes on to say how the players are feeling the absence of key players such as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, as a new look Liverpool team continue to take shape.
Speaking to ESPN’s SportsCenter, Alisson said:
“All the players who left were important.
Lucho, Darwin, they all made a difference for us with goals or their playing, fighting, defending.”
“They had good energy, and we miss them?
The ones who arrived are stars; they’re doing very well with their contributions they have a lot of quality.”
“It’s clear we want to improve because we need to; we have many competitions to play.”
