It is nearly three months since Jurgen Klopp last had a Liverpool team selection to think about.

Just days after the Reds' Champions League exit at home to Atletico Madrid on 13 March, all football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic which brought virtually the entire world to a standstill.

However, Liverpool returned to training at Melwood earlier this month, initially on individual basis and in small groups, and this week Premier League clubs voted to resume full contact training.

This is in anticipation of a resumption of action in June, which the Premier League have confirmed they are hoping will be on June 17, while admitting “there is much work to be done”.

When football was halted in mid-March, Liverpool stood 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League after a phenomenal campaign which saw them win 27 of the first 29 league games.

Jurgen Klopp's men stood just two wins away from clinching the club's first league title since 1990 and were due to be heading across Stanley Park for the 236th Merseyside derby when the action was suspended.

While dates and venues for the remaining matches are yet to be finalised, it appears the fixtures will be played in the order they were supposed to be before everything stopped which means the Reds will be going straight back into the thick of it at Goodison.

But a big advantage for Klopp is that he is likely to be able to choose from virtually a fully fit squad for the huge clash across Stanley Park, with Xherdan Shaqiri and Nathaniel Clyne the only two players not currently fit and in training.

It will be an enormous boost for the Reds to have Alisson Becker back in goal.

The Brazilian suffered a slight muscle injury to his hip before the FA Cup defeat against Chelsea and was also absent for the Champions League loss to Atletico, with dire consequences.

The back four is likely to be the same as it has been for virtually every game since Joe Gomez returned to the side for the home match against Watford in December.

The England centre back slotted back in alongside Virgil van Dijk as if he'd never been away and will surely keep his place alongside the big Dutchman, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson resuming in their usual dynamic full-back roles.

As so often is the case, the main selection dilemmas will come in midfield.

Skipper Jordan Henderson returned from a hamstring injury he picked up in the first leg against Atletico in the Anfield second leg and will surely keep his place as he aims to lead Liverpool to title glory.

Gini Wijnaldum showcased the full range of what he offers against Diego Simeone's side with a superb headed goal and even better assist for Roberto Firmino in extra time so may well get the nod again.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also put in a powerful performance against Atletico before being surprisingly substituted with the game still in the balance and will feel he has a good chance of starting, ahead of Fabinho - who was left out against the Spaniards after an indifferent run of form - and James Milner.

In attack, it seems inconceivable that anyone other than the feared Liverpool front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will start at Goodison - although Mane is the only one of them to have yet scored a goal on the other side of Stanley Park.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson ; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson ; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain ; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Bench: Adrian, Matip, Milner, Fabinho, Lallana, Origi, Minamino
