Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was excused from the club’s recent pre-season tour of Asia for personal reasons and, as such, did not travel with the squad to Japan.

His absence was also felt in Monday’s behind-closed-doors double-header friendly against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.

To date, Alisson has made just a single appearance during this summer’s preparations, featuring in the 2-1 win over AC Milan in early July.

Manager Arne Slot has lamented that fact ahead of the Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace at Wembley on Sunday.

Despite limited on-field minutes in pre-season, Alisson returned to training today at the AXA Training Centre, taking part in the session alongside the fully fit members of the squad.

The Brazilian was photographed at Kirkby this morning.

His presence between the posts will provide a welcome boost ahead of Liverpool’s first competitive outing of the 2025-26 campaign, with Slot confirming that his veteran keeper is “in line to start” against the FA Cup winners before the Bilbao clashes.

There are handful of injury concerns elsewhere in the squad?

Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley remain doubtful after picking up an Achilles heel compliant and musclar injury respectively.

It’s unlikely that the defensive duo returns in time for the season’s curtain raiser.

Slot will likely field a near-full-strength XI at Wembley, with Alisson restored between the sticks and Virgil van Dijk returning from illness.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace will prove stern opposition having enjoyed a strong pre-season themselves.

Palace started their summer with a 1-0 win over South London rivals Millwall, followed by a 3-0 victory against Crawley Town.

In Austria, they faced tougher opposition, beating FC Augsburg 3-1 with Mateta scoring twice and Eze also on the scoresheet, but lost narrowly 1-0 in a second match featuring a younger squad.
