But, as transfer news comes thick and fast at the start of June, that is all set to change this time.

One area which is already seeing plenty of movement is the goalkeeping department, where Liverpool are set to sign youngster Armin Pecsi from the Puskas Academy.

With Caoimhin Kelleher having already left for Brentford and Giorgi Mamardashvili also coming in as his replacement, it’s worth assessing Liverpool‘s options as things stand.

Although Alisson Becker enjoyed another excellent season as Liverpool’s undisputed number one, it was also another year in which the Brazilian displayed his vulnerability.

Alisson is prone to injury, and that, unfortunately, is just the way it is.

There were some rumours that he could be heading off to pave the way for Mamardashvili’s arrival, but, thankfully, Alisson is happy and settled at Liverpool.

Things may look different in another year’s time but for now at least, Alisson will head into another campaign as first choice.

If Alisson is the clear first choice, then Mamardashvili is an obvious number two.

It is not where the Georgian would like to be, having spent the past three seasons as Valencia’s starting goalkeeper.

Nevertheless, Mamardashvili has big gloves to fill in Kelleher’s before he thinks about taking on Alisson’s mantle.

The 24-year-old is very much a burgeoning number one at Anfield, but he’ll have to cut his teeth in the cups and on the bench first.

One man who can perhaps be slightly disappointed with Liverpool’s abundance of goalkeeping talent is third-choice Vitezslav Jaros.

Jaros did well when given his chance last season, but only made two appearances overall.

Given the Czech is now 23 years old, it feels unlikely he’ll be happy to accept sitting around and playing so little football once again.

Jaros is here for now, but he may not be once September rolls around.

News of Liverpool’s efforts to sign 20-year-old Pecsi may have come as a little bit of a surprise to some Reds supporters.

The Liverpool academy is not short of promising keepers and with the first-team already stacked, there is seemingly no real place for Pecsi.

Still, with Jaros potentially moving on, there could be an opening as third choice behind Alisson and Mamardashvili.

As well as Jaros, Harvey Davies looks likely to be the player who suffers from Pecsi’s imminent arrival.

The Athletic suggested as recently as last week that Davies could be in line to assume third-choice duties if Jaros leaves this summer.

Although that could still happen, the 21-year-old is at an age where he needs to start getting some regular game time somewhere.

Like Jaros, perhaps he could move on.

As well as these five more senior options, Liverpool have a couple of academy goalkeepers who may come into the picture.

As the Reds released their retained list on Friday, those numbers dwindled a little, with goalkeepers Jakub Ojrzynski and Jacob Poytress both let go.

That leaves Polish duo Fabian Mrozek and Kornel Misciur as the most likely candidates to get a look-in with the first-team.
