Liverpool fans will be doing everything they can to know about their new manager, Arne Slot.

The Feyenoord boss is expected to be announced as Liverpool’s next manager, it just hasn’t been confirmed by the club yet.

You probably expect that they are waiting for the season to end, say their goodbyes to Jurgen Klopp, before revealing their new man and starting a new chapter.

Or having to replace and follow in the footsteps of Klopp after he did a quite mammoth job on Merseyside, including winning every trophy possible.

Either way, when he arrives, Slot is going to need every bit of help he gets, especially from the senior players, such as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Debates are still raging as to whether Salah will stay beyond the season, his contract runs out in 2025, and he didn’t help himself by being involved in an ugly spat with Klopp against West Ham.

Ally McCoist highlighted how, ahead of the arrival of the new manager, ‘it didn’t send out a good message’, as he told talkSPORT.

But that’s the other thing Slot has to deal with.

That’s where his authority and man-management skills will be tested to the max.

“I say small things, it was a big thing, you look at the incident between Klopp and Salah on the touchline,” said McCoist. 

“Yes, it happens at other clubs.

However, it didn’t look good and it didn’t send out a good message.”

Yes, the 31-year-old’s form has gone out of the window since he returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, but he still has 17 Premier League goals this season.

Plus, the Reds will be returning to the Champions League next season and you know Salah is proven against the elite.

The best scenario for Liverpool would be to keep Salah because he has more than a few years at the top level.

So, the first task for the powers that be at Anfield should be to keep the player and hand him a new deal, rather than waiting to see if an offer comes in from Saudi Arabia.
