'Alright, cool': Thierry Henry puts Kate Abdo and Man United in their place after she tries to dig at Liverpool

The final few months of Jurgen Klopp’s reign as Liverpool boss aren’t going as everyone hoped.

That 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Europa League last Thursday was very damaging and Liverpool somehow made it worse by losing to Crystal Palace.

Within a few days, the chance to win the Europa League now seems a long, long way away, whilst the Premier League title chances have also taken a severe hit.

Ahead of CBS’ Champions League coverage, Kate Abdo tried to dig at Liverpool’s recent collapse.

The popular TV host is a Manchester United fan and she was sat alongside the usual suspects Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.

The Europa League final takes place in Dublin on May 22.

You wouldn’t blame anyone associated with Liverpool for already booking tickets and accommodation because they have been strong favourites.

Abdo told Carragher that ‘eight days is a long time in football’ and he was ‘begging to work in Dublin’ for the Europa League final, as she told CBS Sports on Paramount (16/04/24 at 7:05 pm).

The former centre-back then joked that he might have ‘two nights’ available for someone in Dublin given that Liverpool might not make it now.

There have been many miracle nights before in Europe for the Reds and they have to pull another rabbit out of the hat here.

But a certain Thierry Henry wasn’t having any of these jibes at Liverpool and he was sure to put the CBS host in her place.

After Abdo’s comments, he went across the panel by asking Liverpool-mad Carragher and Manchester City-daft Micah Richards, if their teams will be in the Champions League next season.

Of course, this was a dig at Manchester United, who are now at risk of missing out on European football altogether, never mind getting back to the Champions League.

“Eight days is a long time in football,” said Abdo.

Are you going to be in the Champions League next year?

Are you going to be in the Champions League next year?

We have all had a season where we have sat it out.”

Carragher asked: “Do we cover the Conference League.”

This is where the team earns its stripes, sticks its chest out and finally tries to end the chaotic nature of their play in the final third.

Imagine if Liverpool can return from Italy on Thursday night with a win?!

It might just flip the team’s season on the head once again and everyone will be bouncing from the rooftops going into the Fulham game.

And whilst everyone would have been deflated by last Sunday’s blow, as Abdo mentioned up top, a week is a long time in football!
