Mohamed Salah is one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, with the winger sat third in the club’s all-time leading goalscorers.

The Egyptian international has been a revelation for Liverpool since joining in 2017, with Salah scoring 244 goals in all competitions and breaking Premier League and club records seemingly on a weekly basis.

With Salah signing a new contract with Liverpool this month, there is now talk on how high the winger can climb on the all-time goalscoring charts, with the forward currently 102 goals off the outright leader and club legend Ian Rush.

And the Merseyside icon has now shared if he thinks Salah could one day break his legendary goalscoring tally for Liverpool.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Rush shared his eagerness for Salah to become Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer, with the club legend waxing lyrical about the Egyptian international and his form for the Reds across the years.

Although Salah is now 32-years-old, the winger is showing no sign of slowing down at Liverpool, and Rush believes that the winger could have a real shot at breaking his goalscoring record in the years to come on Merseyside.

Rush said: “Records are there to be broken, and I’m delighted he’s breaking them as it means the team is doing well.

The most important thing when breaking records is to make sure the team is winning trophies.

“He’s already a legend.

He’s one of the greatest players to ever play for Liverpool.

When I see Salah scoring, I’m not worried about my record – I’m celebrating like every Liverpool fan.

The team always comes first.”

Salah currently looks like he could play at the highest level until he’s 40, with the former AS Roma star showing no sign of slowing down at all having enjoyed his best season yet with Liverpool under Arne Slot.

And if Salah were to extend his Liverpool contract beyond 2027, there’s a small but realistic chance that the winger could beat Rush’s all-time goalscoring record, with Roger Hunt next in the Egyptian international’s sights.

Indeed, Salah will be looking to get as close as he can to Rush’s record, yet even if the forward falls short, the Liverpool attacker will still go down as one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
