Andy Robertson said that Florian Wirtz is an "exciting talent" as he addressed Liverpool's interest in signing the Germany international.

Talks are ongoing between the Reds and Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for Wirtz to move to Anfield, with the structure of the deal yet to be settled on.

Robertson is the first Liverpool player to speak publicly about his club's interest in signing Wirtz, and he spoke highly of the 22-year-old.

"He was excellent against us (Scotland, at Euro 2024) I do remember that," Robertson told Sky Sports.

He'll only help us, and if he does get through the door then we'll be excited to play with him."

Robertson also addressed the pressure that Liverpool will be under to defend the Premier League, having won the title this season after starting the campaign as relative underdogs.

"For a lot of the lads that won it for the first time this season, and the lads coming in, they'll feel the pressure for the first time.

"We'll be favorites and there will certainly be more expectation on us than there was at the start of last season
