A new season is upon Liverpool as they aim to make it back-to-back Premier League titles.

There is a different kind of pressure on the Reds this term as they head into the campaign as favourites.

Plenty has changed from the team which delivered Liverpool a first league title in front of fans for 35 years, with several important signings made.

The Liverpool squad has been transformed both in defence and attack, with Arne Slot hoping that his new additions can gel and settle quickly.

As a result, there are a number of places up for grabs in the Liverpool team.

In case new players do not bed in well, some unexpected replacements could take their places.

And according to Andy Robertson, one player who has been playing second fiddle over recent years is about to come to the fore this year.

Robertson himself is likely to play more of a back-up role than he’s used to this season.

After the signing of Milos Kerkez, the Scot is under pressure for his place.

Kerkez struggled a little in the Community Shield last week, however, suggesting that Robertson may have a bigger part to play than many are predicting.

Whatever his role in the squad, the 31-year-old is excited by what could come from Curtis Jones in 2025/26.

Asked to make a prediction about Jones for the coming season by the UEFA Champions League’s account on X, Robertson claimed the Scouser is set to become ‘one of the main players’ at Anfield.

“Curtis Jones, become one of the main players at Liverpool football club,” the left-back predicted.

With Jones having started just 19 Premier League matches last season, the 24-year-old is very much a back-up player for Slot.

But, if Robertson is to be believed, that may no longer be the case moving forward.

Robertson was not the only player asked to make a prediction for the season ahead, with Liverpool players drawing a name from a hat and sharing what they think will happen in 25/26.

Jones himself picks new signing Florian Wirtz, predicting the German to be a ‘standout’ of the campaign.

“I just know he’ll be a massive help in the team, he’ll get goals, he’ll get assists and he’ll be a standout guy in the team,” said the Liverpool academy graduate.

Elsewhere, Conor Bradley backed Alisson Becker to score his second Liverpool goal, while Ibrahima Konate hoped for Mohamed Salah to win the Ballon d’Or.

Salah predicted Virgil van Dijk to lead Liverpool to double success as captain, with Alexis Mac Allister suggesting that the Reds’ No.
