Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has 'avoided serious injury' to his ankle after being forced off on international duty with Scotland, according to reports.

He is though still considered a major doubt for Sunday's game against Brighton.

The 30-year-old defender had only recently recovered from a shoulder injury — which was also picked up while away with Scotland in 2023 — before suffering a fresh setback on Tuesday evening.



Robertson returned to the AXA Training Centre the following day to undergo scans on the issue.

However, it appears that the experienced defender has avoided serious injury, which will come as a relief to Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp.

The player is still a major doubt to feature against Brighton on Sunday (March 31) and for other forthcoming games, with the club playing three times within the space of eight days.

The Merseyside-born talent has missed the last eight games due to an ankle injury but is now set to make his return in the coming days.

He missed three months due to the shoulder injury he had earlier in the campaign and he was missed heavily during that time — the news that he may only face a short time out rather than a lengthy spell on the sidelines will come as a huge boost ahead of the title run-in.
