Andy Robertson has reacted to the expected transfer of Milos Kerkez this summer.
It has already been reported that the Reds have a personal agreement with the wingback.
Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, who originally signed Kerkez for Bournemouth in 2023, is leading talks.
The clubs are negotiating payment structures, with Bournemouth preferring upfront guarantees and Liverpool exploring performance-based add-ons.
Bournemouth are understood to be demanding a fee of £45 million for the Hungarian international.
Signing Kerkez would strengthen Liverpool’s long-term options at left-back, increasing competition for Andy Robertson and casting doubt over the future of Kostas Tsimikas, whose role at the club is now not clear.
The left-back was one of only six outfield players to start every Premier League game last season, accumulating more minutes than any other Bournemouth player
It was Richard Hughes who originally brought Kerkez to the Premier League in 2023, negotiating a £15 million deal with AZ Alkmaar during his time at Bournemouth
And Robertson has now revealed he is aware of the talks, revealing to BBC Scotland that he expects the deal to go through but will not give up on his status at Anfield so easily:
“We’re not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done,” Robertson said.
“But, until that is done, I’ve not even given that a second thought.
I’ve got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward.”
“I’ve had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies and being a mainstay in the team, which I’m incredibly proud of.”
“I’m not getting any younger?
I can’t change my age, but I still believe I’ve got a lot to give and that’s what I focus on.”
“I focus on myself – you can’t focus on other people or who you’re competing with.”
The potential £45 million fee for Kerkez would represent a significant investment by Liverpool, who have traditionally been more conservative in their transfer spending especially around fullbacks.
However, the club appears committed to backing Arne Slot’s vision, having already secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and pursuing Florian Wirtz in what could be a transformative summer transfer window.
