Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson shared a message with supporters despite uncertainty over his role in the team.

Liverpool began their Premier League title defence in dramatic fashion, edging past Bournemouth 4-2 in a six-goal thriller.

New signing Hugo Ekitike shone on his Premier League debut, scoring and assisting, while Antoine Semenyo kept Bournemouth in the contest with a brace that levelled the game at 2-2.

Federico Chiesa eventually rescued the Reds with an 87th-minute strike before Mohamed Salah sealed the victory late on.

Robertson was not named in the starting line-up, with summer arrival Milos Kerkez preferred at left-back, further fuelling speculation about his long-term future at Anfield.

Earlier this summer, Football Insider reported that Liverpool were prepared to listen to offers for Robertson, with Atletico Madrid showing strong interest.

However, talk of a potential move has since cooled, and he remains part of Arne Slot’s squad as the season gets underway.

Now, with his future still uncertain, the defender made sure to send a message of gratitude and determination to the Liverpool supporters.

Despite being dropped from the starting line-up, Robertson was brought on after 60 minutes to replace new signing Kerkez.

He shared a passionate message to supporters on Instagram, saying: “Fair play to the lads.

Good fight on an emotional night” with a heart emoji.

Although he didn’t start the game, Robertson may still have a role to play this season, especially after Kerkez’s underwhelming debut.

Back in June, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Robertson would prefer joining Atletico Madrid rather than staying in the Premier League if he is allowed to leave Anfield.

Even with plenty of changes already made at Anfield this summer, Arne Slot is still pushing for more arrivals.

Football Insider revealed that Liverpool remain in talks with Crystal Palace for defender Marc Guehi, but Palace are holding firm on their £40million valuation.
