Florian Wirtz is the transfer saga that has gripped most of Europe, with the 22-year-old rejecting both Manchester City and Bayern Munich to join Liverpool.
Contrasting reports suggest the deal isn’t fully over the line just yet and fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but all the signs are positive.
Another indication that things are heading in the right direction is when players begin to address the rumours and Andy Robertson has done just that, revealing just how good of a player Wirtz really is.

Euro 2024 was a time where fans could see some of Europe’s biggest names to see how they would fit in at their club, and it is safe to say Wirtz shone.
Robertson knows this more than anyone after coming up against him in the opening game of the tournament, with the German playing a key role in their 5-1 win over Scotland.

The left-back referenced this game when addressing the Wirtz to Liverpool rumours in an interview with Sky Sports, highlighting the talent the Reds have on their hands.
“He was excellent against us and causing problems, he’s a top player.
I haven’t seen too much of him but I have played against him and that was enough to see that he was going to be a top player,” Robertson said.
“We are certainly linked with him that’s for sure, you can’t miss it.
He’s an exciting talent and if we get him through the door, then we’ll be excited to play with him.”
This is certainly a promising sign for Liverpool fans and a good answer from their left-back, although when the deal will be done is still yet to be seen.
Liverpool have been linked with a new left-back for a good while now and it was unclear whether Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas would be the player leaving.
Milos Kerkez appears to be one of their replacements, but Robertson’s interview suggests he will be the man to stick around next season.
Tsimikas has interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid, as well as some Premier League clubs, suggesting Liverpool will likely cash in on him.
Robertson will also be a good person for Kerkez to learn from due to his longevity at the top level and experience at winning trophies, suggesting the Hungarian could replicate what the 31-year-old has done during his eight years at the club.
