Tottenham Hotspur face a double injury setback ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend.
The Reds will host Spurs at Anfield on Sunday, marking one of Jurgen Klopp’s final home games as manager before his departure at the end of the season.
It’s widely anticipated that Arne Slot will replace Klopp, with the club having reached an agreement with Feyenoord regarding compensation.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of Tottenham’s match against Chelsea on Thursday night.
Postecoglou confirmed that both Timo Werner and Ben Davies will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injuries sustained following Tottenham’s recent loss in the North London Derby against Arsenal on Sunday.
Werner, on loan from RB Leipzig, will miss the rest of the campaign due to injury.
The striker has contributed two goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances during his loan spell at Spurs.
Additionally, Spurs face a dilemma in their left-back position with Destiny Udogie still recovering from surgery.
Davies, who can play as a full-back or centre-back, has been ruled out for the foreseeable future, including the upcoming game against Liverpool.
“Not good.
We’ve had a couple of injuries,” Ange Postecoglou told reporters.
“Timo [Werner] with his hamstring.
With only two to three weeks or so left, he’ll miss the rest of the season.
“Ben Davies got a calf injury in the game and that’s the rest of his season?
Skippy [Oliver Skipp] should be back.”
Oliver Skipp was sidelined for the 3-2 defeat against Arsenal due to a minor knock, marking his absence from the Premier League lineup since February 3.
With Davies unavailable, all three left-back options are currently sidelined, compounded by Ryan Sessegnon’s ongoing recovery from lengthy setbacks.
Additionally, Manor Solomon and Fraser Forster are set to miss the remainder of the season.
