Ange Postecoglou’s start as Nottingham Forest manager could not have gone any worse and a trip to Burnley may not be his ideal next destination.

Postecoglou was mocked after Nottingham Forest let a two goal lead slip at Championship club Swansea in the Carabao Cup.

A 3-0 defeat at Arsenal in Postecoglou’s first match in charge means Nottingham Forest are now on a three-match losing streak.

Nottingham Forest’s trip to Turf Moor will be their 52nd, but the Tricky Trees have not won back-to-back matches against the Clarets in the top flight since 1967, as per BBC Sport.

Victory could also be their first time they have won consecutive matches at Turf Moor since September 2003, when both clubs were in the second tier.

Nottingham Forest’s last trip under recently sacked Nuno Espirito Santo was a 2-1 victory courtesy of a Chris Wood brace against his former club on the final day of the 2023-24 campaign.

Since Nottingham Forest’s opening day win against Brentford, the feel good factor seems to have deteriorated out of the City Ground.

With back-to-back league fixtures against promoted clubs, with Sunderland next after Burnley, Postecoglou needs results from both matches.

Wood could come up against his former club, but Igor Jesus’ two goals at Swansea may earn him a chance from the start for the first time in the Premier League.
