Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been speaking about Jurgen Klopp ahead of his side’s trip to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Spurs have seen their Champions League chances slip away in recent weeks and have suffered consecutive losses against Newcastle United, Arsenal, and most recently a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Aston Villa are fourth and hold a 7-point lead over Spurs having played a game more.

Therefore, Ange Postecoglou’s men will have to win their remaining three games and hope the Villains stumble at the final hurdles.

Although their form is poor heading into this weekend, a wounded animal is dangerous one and Liverpool will have to be on their guard.

A month ago, this game was billed potential title decider for the Reds.

However, now the emphasis has shifted to pride and ensuring a respectful end to Klopp’s nine-year tenure.

Despite the change in stakes, motivation remains high for Klopp’s team, particularly after a disappointing 2-1 loss in their last encounter with Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

That match, tainted by a contentious VAR call and intense drama, leaves Liverpool keen to redeem themselves, especially before their home crowd.

What did Ange Postecoglou say about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp?

Speaking ahead of Liverpool, the Australian was full of praise for his German counterpart, while also claiming that we have not seen the last of Jurgen Klopp as a manager (via Football London):

“He’s had a massive impact.

I’ve said before that I’ve always been drawn to managers who are a little bit different, who play the game a bit differently and have a really clear vision and identity, and he certainly has that.”

“It’s not easy going into a big club that has traditionally had a lot of success and has then gone through a really tough spell in terms of that, and then come in and transform a club the way he did.”

“It’s a credit to him, he’s an outstanding manager.”

“I’m sure we’ll see him back managing at the top level again because he’s one of the top managers in the world.”

“Credit to him that at such a big club he was able to imprint his style and vision and bring success.

Star man and captain Heung Min-Son has been playing plenty of games this season as the focal point of the side, and Postecoglou has admitted that the South Korean international may need a rest:

“Yeah, look it’s been a big challenge for Sonny this year on a lot of fronts?

Not just the game, but the leadership also.”

“It’s only natural there would be some point where and again he’s got to embrace this challenge because it’s not going to change.”
