Joel Matip is in a desperate race against time to return to fitness ahead of Liverpool’s titanic encounter with Manchester United on Sunday – and Reds supporters have reacted on Twitter.

A number of fans have taken to Twitter following the defender’s latest injury update.

He hasn’t lost a Premier League match since January 2018, after all.

The Mirror reports that Matip could miss the top-of-the-table clash at Anfield following the adductor injury he sustained against West Brom on December 27.

The Reds will welcome United at the weekend with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team three points above Liverpool at the Premier League summit.

If the pair can avoid injury for the remainder of the campaign, it could go a long way in deciding the outcome of the Premier League title.

As a result of United’s 1-0 victory at Burnley last night, Liverpool cannot afford to surrender any further ground in the title race.
