Center-back Nat Phillips is reportedly close to joining West Bromwich Albion in a permanent deal, ending his long and winding journey at the club.
After nearly a decade on Merseyside, Phillips appears ready for a fresh start.
The 28-year-old has spent much of his Liverpool career on loan, moving between clubs in England, Scotland, and Germany.
But now, he’s on the verge of settling into a more stable role under Ryan Mason at The Hawthorns.
The move is expected to be completed this week, with Phillips likely to join the Baggies ahead of pre-season testing.
Liverpool’s backline is clearly undergoing change — and fast.

Phillips joined Liverpool from Bolton in 2016, and although he was never a regular starter, his role during the 2020/21 injury crisis was crucial.
The duo helped Liverpool limp to a third-place finish, earning Phillips cult hero status among the fans.
Still, opportunities never truly opened up after that, and the defender found himself out on loan five times — including recent stints with Celtic, Cardiff, and Derby.
John Percy of The Telegraph shared the update on X, writing:
“West Bromwich Albion are close to signing Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips in a permanent deal.”
While the fee is said to be small, the chance to play regularly in the Championship may be priceless for a player who’s been everywhere and back again.
Phillips isn’t the only one set to leave.
Owen Beck and Rhys Williams are also attracting interest, while several other fringe players could be on their way out.
