Liverpool has officially embarked on their highly anticipated pre-season tour of the Far East, departing from England on Sunday evening, bound for Hong Kong and Japan.

The Reds’ Asian adventure is part of manager Arne Slot’s preparations for the 2025-26 campaign, as Liverpool aim to defend their domestic crown while pursuing further glory across multiple fronts.

Following an emphatic 5-0 victory over Stoke City (including a hat-trick from Darwin Nunez) in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the AXA Training Centre, Liverpool’s traveling party boarded their chartered flight with Japan Airlines – the club’s official airline partner – on Sunday evening.

Liverpool’s pre-season tour sees them set to face AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 PM UK time (7:30 PM local), with temperatures expected to reach 30°C (86°F) and humidity levels around 80%.

Just days later, on Wednesday, July 30, Liverpool takes on Yokohama F?

Marinos at Japan’s iconic Nissan Stadium, which holds 72,000.

That fixture starts at 11:30 AM UK time (7:30 PM local).

Complete 29-Man Travelling Squad

Goalkeepers (5): Alisson Becker, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi, Kornel Misciur

Defenders (8): Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley

Midfielders (9): Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, Luca Stephenson

Forwards (7): Mohamed Salah, Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Ben Doak, Rio Ngumoha.

It has already been reported that Federico Chiesa has been omitted from the squad due to a “minor” issue.

Now it has been reported that Jayden Danns has also been omitted from the travelling squad amid concerns over his back injury.

Danns was initially expected to travel with the first-team squad but has been left out as a precautionary measure.

His absence stems directly from persistent back problems that have plagued the young forward throughout the 2024-25 season.

The striker first suffered a back injury during pre-season preparations in summer 2024, which prevented him from returning to training until November.

The most devastating chapter of Danns’ injury saga unfolded during the January transfer window when he joined Championship side Sunderland on loan.

Despite Liverpool and Sunderland agreeing to the temporary move, a back problem was identified during his medical examination at the Stadium of Light.

While it has been indicated that Danns is now “fully fit” and has been involved in every training session since Liverpool’s pre-season commenced, it would seem that club officials have rather opted for extreme caution.
