Speculation has increased about a summer switch to Liverpool, despite the Premier League champions sanctioning a move for Hugo Ekitike. It comes a year on from Liverpool’s failed attempt to sign Gordon.
Gordon, who was on duty at Euro 2024 at the time, ended up staying at St James’ Park, but can appreciates why the uncertainty affects players.
“I understand what Alex is going through,” the former Everton attacker told the Daily Mail.
Gordon admitted he thought his time at Newcastle was over last year, and then had to adjust to reality that he was set to stay in the north-east.
With PSR, I thought I was going to leave at some point in the window
That is why I understand what Alex is going through
I hope everyone gets what they want in the end.”
It comes amid reports from The Athletic that Liverpool has made a first official bid for the Sweden star on Friday.
The report adds that bid was rejected and Newcastle has offered Isak a contract extension with a release clause next summer.
