Anthony Gordon has penned a public goodbye message to Alexander Isak after the deal was sealed on deadline day.

For many Liverpool fans, the 21:30 BST announcement on Monday night was a cathartic release after many weeks of tension over the deal.

The 25-year-old arrived at the AXA Training Centre on Monday to undergo his medical and has committed to a six-year contract at Anfield, where he will wear the No 9 shirt.

The total transfer fee is £125m, making it a British transfer record.

Isak had always made it clear where he wanted to go.

This transfer was Liverpool’s second record-breaking signing of the summer, following their £100 million-plus deal for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United was evidently not too happy about it, publishing a somewhat bitter statement on the deal last night:

“Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.”

“The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.”

But fortunately, enough, it does not seem like his teammates are holding it against him.

Anthony Gordon has penned a goodbye message “regardless of the situation and what’s gone on”

Taking to Instagram, Gordon wrote on his story:

“Regardless of the situation and what’s gone on.

It’s been a pleasure to play with you.”

“One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate.”

“I wish you nothing but the best brother.”

Isak, who netted 23 Premier League goals last season and finished runner-up to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race, arrives with a reputation for clinical finishing and intelligent movement.

Having scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022, he instantly adds cutting-edge striking depth to Arne Slot’s title-defending squad.

On Liverpoolfc.com, Isak said, “I feel amazing?

His arrival caps a summer in which Liverpool have spent over £400 million

The striker is currently on duty for Sweden and is able to hopefully get some minutes in his legs having not played a competitive game since last season.
