Antoine Semenyo has issued a poignant goodbye to a loyal Bournemouth player who has just left the club this transfer window.

However, Semenyo suffered alleged racial abuse from a fan against Liverpool, as the former Bristol City winger still continued to put in a wonderful performance despite the 4-2 defeat on the night.

Heading into their next game against high-flying Tottenham who landed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, the Cherries will be playing with one man less after Chris Mepham left the south coast to join West Brom.

Taking to Instagram (29 August) the Wales international posted a message of thanks and love to the club and the fans following five-and-a-half years at the Vitality Stadium.

Mepham’s post read: “To everyone associated with Bournemouth, thank you!

Wishing you all the best in the future, Cherries.”

The Ghana international was one of the many former teammates as well as current players who wished the ex-Sunderland centre-back all the best in his next steps.

Semenyo commented: “All the best my brother, will be missed for sure”, alongside the likes of Newcastle keeper Aaron Ramsdale, Marcos Senesi, Marcus Tavernier and David Brooks.

Focusing on the season ahead after the departure of an integral part in the Cherries dressing room, Andoni Iraola would have been intensely preparing his side to face the Lilywhites.

Given Bournemouth’s joy in recent matches against the typical “top six” sides, it will be very intriguing to see how his counterpart Thomas Frank decides to set up.

Knowing the south coast side thrive on the transition and prefer to intensely hound their opposition, the Dane may actually opt to play a bit more deep on this occasion.

By inviting the pressure onto them, Spurs may prevail given Iraola’s struggles when setting up his team to break down well-oiled defences.

Semenyo, for instance, is a crucial weapon down the left-hand side, but he may be up against the wall if Tottenham choose to sit back.

It will be a fascinating battle in north London, but both managers will likely praise one another for each other’s tactical knowhow and versatility.
