Antonio Conte and Napoli could do some summer shopping on Merseyside this summer.

It is widely expected that Liverpool will offset the cost of incomings signings with sales of fringe players.

Caoimhin Kelleher’s move to Brentford, finalized this week, represents Liverpool’s first major sale of the summer.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz has already admitted that he has involved in talks with other clubs already this window.

This comes after Barcelona made a formal approach to Liverpool to enquire about Diaz, only for the Anfield club to shoot down the enquiry.

Another player who could be out the door is Federico Chiesa.

Federico Chiesa managed just six Premier League appearances during the 2024-25 season, totaling only 104 minutes on the pitch in England’s top division.

In all competitions, he played in just 14 matches, with only four starts to his name.

Arne Slot’s consistent team selections throughout the campaign meant limited opportunities for fringe players like Chiesa.

And it seems that Antonio Conte and Napoli could look to sign the Italy winger, with Alfredo Pedulla writing for CaughtOffside:

“As for Napoli, the sense is that they are preparing for an explosive transfer window.

After investing circa €130m-140m last season, the club is now in a position to spend even more.

“Then there’s Federico Chiesa, one of Conte’s long-time favourites.

Napoli had already attempted to sign him the previous year, but Juventus struck a deal with Liverpool.”

“However, his English adventure hasn’t gone as he hoped.

He received little playing time under Arne Slot, and it’s expected to decrease even further next season.

A return to Serie A, possibly with Conte, would be far from unlikely.”

The player himself certainly seems open to a return to Serie A in some shape or form.

Quizzed by Gazzetta Dello Sport this week on whether he would be open to a move to AC Milan and work with Massimiliano Allegri (his former manager at Juve), Chiesa did not shoot down the proposition:

“That’s something to think about during the summer,” he replied.

“My family, my agent and I have a great relationship with Liverpool, and the goal is to be ready for the pre-season?

We’ll find the best solution for everyone.”

“I work every day with a Liverpool programme to be in top shape for the tests on July 8.”

While he confirmed the intention was to be fit for Liverpool for pre-season, the Italian said “never say never” when asked whether a return to Juventus is a possibility.
