The search for Liverpool's next manager seems to have taken big steps over the last few days, with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot now the frontrunner for next season's vacancy at Anfield.

It was announced at the beginning of the year that Jurgen Klopp would be stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, with the German closing the curtains on his nine years on Merseyside.

After the Carabao Cup win in February, Liverpool are still in contention to win the Premier League this season in what would be the perfect ending to Klopp's Liverpool career.

But, the Reds need to start looking forward to next season without the German, and Feyenoord's Slot is now the favourite to take over in the Anfield dugout, with Liverpool having opened up negotiations with the Dutch club for the 45-year-old.

After strong links to Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim, the Reds have identified Slot as the right man for the job.

So, if Liverpool were to appoint Slot as manager, how successful would he be?

With his new arrivals, Slot could now set up his squad the way he liked, with the Reds switching to a 4-2-2-2 formation for the 2024/25 campaign.

At the end of the 2024/25 season, Football Manager 2023 put together an overall best Liverpool XI, based on performances, statistics, and other metrics.

Stefan Bajcetic was one of the players to benefit the most from Slot's arrival with the Spaniard playing 50 games across all competitions, but some players who saw less game time under the new boss were Harvey Elliott, Ryan Gravenberch, and Dominik Szoboszlai, with the three midfielders barely used by the Dutchman.

Under Slot, Liverpool became the most dangerous attacking side in the Premier League, with the Reds scoring a whopping 101 goals in the 2024/25 season - 14 more than the second-best, Manchester City

They did concede a few more though with Slot's side ending the season with the sixth-best defensive record in the league, and conceding goals is what let them down, with Liverpool ending the campaign in second place, six points behind the winners Man City on 91 points.

The Reds breezed through the Champions League League phase as they won all of their games, but their European journey ended in the quarter-finals, where they lost 3-1 on aggregate to eventual winners Arsenal
