The Reds have signed eight players, including the likes of Bayer Leverkusen duo of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, Hungarian Milos Kerkez, Frenchman Hugo Ekitike, and the highest transfer fee of Newcastle number 9, Alexander Isak.
What gets overlooked is the outgoings of the Liverpool transfer window, with several different signings being made across Europe.
Players such as Luiz Diaz, who was sold for £65.5 million to Bayern Munich, Darwin Nunez, who transferred to Al Hilal for £46.2million with possible add-ons going to £56.6million, and Jarell Quansah, who signed for Bayer Leverkusen for £30million with £5million add-ons.
Huge income from outgoing players
Liverpool massed over £190million in outgoings across the summer transfer window and Slot has praised the Liverpool board for their business over the summer.
“It’s only a compliment that people say we spent so much, as it shows the players we have brought in very good players.
We did great business, brought in great players, and we have already lowered the age of the players” said Slot in the press conference today.
Slot gives credit to the board for having younger, ready-made players, compared to older players.
“Sometimes [we] bring in 27-year-olds as they are already ‘bam’, but we bring in players who are already ready at 21,22,” explained Slot.
Slot also brought up the signing of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich as a good example of Liverpool’s successful outgoings.
“Luis Diaz [is] easier to sell for 80 million euros at 27,28 than at 32.
All the money we have spent we have generated by winning the league and selling players, and last season hardly buying anywhere at all,” said Slot.
Either way, Liverpool will be looking to take advantage of their new players heading into their first Champions League game against Atletico Madrid at Anfield.
