Liverpool continue to prove the doubters wrong week after week.

The Reds have not been the most convincing at the beginning of the new season, but they continue to get the job done.

Their most recent win would have felt like the best so far for many Liverpool supporters as they got one over on their close rivals Everton after beating them 2-1.

This victory keeps them top of the Premier League, five points clear of the next best, although there is, of course, still a very long way to go.

However, there is one rather telling sign that could prove that Liverpool are a cut above the rest, with the Reds achieving something this weekend that no other English side could.

One big problem for almost all footballers nowadays is trying to manage the busy schedule, with there simply being so many games to play in a short period of time.

Liverpool, for example, have six games in September alone, with the Reds only halfway through this run of games.

Fatigue could have a big impact on performances as a whole, but it is so far so good as Liverpool manage to win at the weekend despite playing in the Champions League on Wednesday.

In fact, they were the only English side to win in the league after playing in Europe midweek, with all the rest dropping points.

Manchester City and Arsenal drew to each other, Tottenham drew to Brighton, Newcastle drew with Bournemouth and Chelsea lost to Manchester United.

As for Liverpool, they were the only side to get the job done despite also being far from convincing, showing how their resilience could go a long way this season.

If this trend continues, the Reds will find themselves a level above the chasing pack and on course for another Premier League title, proving just how important squad rotation is during a hectic season.

Although there are no European games for these teams this week, there are League Cup fixtures, with this another potential stumbling block for sides suffering from fatigue.

As for Liverpool, they are expected to heavily rotate as they face Southampton at Anfield, with some debuts even likely being given out.

However, all the other Champions League sides will likely do the same given their level of opposition, meaning that these ties should not have as big an impact as the European games did.

Although the Saints should not be underestimated, the Reds are expected to cruise through this one rather easily, with it being a good chance to see some youngsters and fringe players shine.
