Liverpool manager Arne Slot caught Sky Sports presenter Mark Chapman off guard before his side’s Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United.

The Reds were beaten 2-1 at Wembley, with Dan Burn and Alexander Isak both on target for Eddie Howe’s side, before Federico Chiesa scored a stoppage-time consolation.

However, before the game, Slot, who was speaking to Sky Sports, cheekily barged into Chapman to illustrate a point he was making about Newcastle's physical approach after being asked by Jamie Carragher what he was expecting from the Magpies.

"They will go all in from the start, like they were at St.

James' Park," the Dutchman said, replying to the former Reds defender.

"Being on top of us, letting us know that they are there.

"At Anfield they were waiting a bit more and at St.

James' Park they were constantly [barges Chapman] like this and that's what you can expect in a final."

Clearly caught off guard, a laughing Chapman said: "I don't think I've ever been shoulder-barged by a manager during an interview before."

Speaking after the defeat, Slot said: “Disappointing result, disappointing performance, completely different to how I felt after (the) PSG game.

“It took us seven, eight, nine months to lose twice in a row and it happened against two teams, one fighting for Champions League (qualification) and the other is PSG.

“I want to make clear the week started really well by us beating Southampton.

You know if you go further into tournaments that the opposition get stronger and stronger and even Liverpool can lose games.

“It was a tough week but also a week where we extended our lead to 12 points from 10 but the last two (results) were definitely not what we wanted.”
