Liverpool head to Selhurst Park on Saturday looking to extend their flawless start to the season, having won every match so far in the Premier League.

Arne Slot chooses between winning the Premier League and the Champions League

Arne Slot will be without Hugo Ekitike, who is suspended after being sent off for two bookable offences in the midweek Carabao Cup victory over Southampton.

Slot described the dismissal as “stupid” and “needless,” with the French forward since issuing an apology.

Ekitike’s absence could pave the way for Florian Wirtz to return to the starting XI.

Alexander Isak is another option through the middle, though he featured for only 45 minutes against Southampton as he continues to build sharpness.

“Obviously, my situation was a bit special, so I had to do some extra work, which is completely normal,” Isak said.

“I’m happy to do any work that will get me in better shape.

“It’s good.

I’m working hard to be in my best shape and then it’s up to the coach [for the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday].”

Federico Chiesa is also pushing for inclusion.

The Italy international registered two assists in midweek but is still searching for his best form in the Premier League and Champions League since arriving at Anfield.

Liverpool resume their European campaign next week with a trip to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The Reds began with a 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

Last season, they topped the group in the new league-phase format but were eliminated in the round of 16 on penalties by the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain.

Asked whether he would rather win the league this year or the Champions League, Arne Slot told TNT Sports Football: “If I can only win one, because I wait so long, it’s so difficult to pick.

“It’s almost impossible?

But I think I would then go for the Champions League.”
