Arne Slot is facing pressure at Liverpool despite their summer of transfer business and perfect start to the new Premier League season.

Liverpool won the Premier League title by a 10 point margin last season and have begun this campaign with three wins from three.

Slot has added further firepower to his deadly attack with Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle to join Liverpool for £125million after already spending £100m to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

BBC Sport‘s Phil McNulty [2 September] believes the Premier League title “is now a formality,” to return to Anfield.

McNulty claimed Liverpool’s heavy backing of the manager in the transfer market “Increases the pressure on Slot to deliver because anything but a major trophy will be failure in these circumstances.”

Football Insider Verdict

Liverpool were one of the title favourites heading into the new season, and adding Isak to their extravagant summer of spending means hopes of back-to-back titles, or a Champions League, have increased.

Slot’s side were already looking dangerous in attack, and now Isak has joined they have one of the most potent Premier League strikers in their ranks.

It would take some team to stop Liverpool’s attack from scoring, and there defence looks strong too, with captain Virgil van Dijk continuing to be a colossal figure at the back.

Slot will be questioned if Liverpool are not champions come May, or have gone trophyless, with their attacking options looking a class above their nearest title rivals.

Liverpool have already defeated Arsenal at Anfield without Isak, and gone to Newcastle and won a frantic five goal thriller.
