Liverpool, though, are in danger of experiencing a dry January of a different kind.
After Sunday's disappointing 2-2 home Premier League draw against struggling Manchester United was followed by a 1-0 League Cup semi-final first leg defeat at injury-hit Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, the Reds have hit a bump in the road under Arne Slot, the first time they have failed to win in successive games since the Dutchman replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield hotseat at the end of last season.
It has been a less than ideal start to a busy New Year where Liverpool play eight games during the opening month.
But January has long proven a troublesome month for the Reds during the Premier League era - particularly for a new boss.

Since 1992 on only five occasions have Liverpool managed to stay unbeaten in all competitions during the first calendar month.
Two came under Jurgen Klopp, last season when the League Cup final was reached and in 2019/20 when the Reds were on their way to winning the Premier League, while another came under Brendan Rodgers in 2013/14 that sparked their championship challenge into life.
However, the unbeaten January in 2008/09 saw one win and four draws, many of which proved costly as Rafael Benitez's side missed out on the title.
The other occasion was in 1995/96 under Roy Evans.
Indeed, regards just the first game of the New Year, the draw with United means Liverpool have won only three of their last 11 such matches.
This campaign is the first experience Slot has had of the hectic festive period which, rather than taking a pause for breath in the New Year, instead intensifies with the start of the FA Cup, the League Cup semi-final and this season the final two games of the Champions League opening stage.
And his predecessor Klopp found life similarly difficult when confronted for the first time with the unique nature of the English fixture schedule, winning just three of nine games in his first January.
It was even worse in his first full season in charge 12 months later, when Liverpool won only one of nine matches to slip out of the League Cup, FA Cup and Premier League title contention.

But Klopp wasn't alone in having a tough time when stepping in from overseas.
Rafael Benitez lost four of seven games in his first January in charge, while Gerard Houllier won only two of five.
Not that New Year has proven any more profitable for British managers at the helm during the Premier League era.
