Liverpool have not had a pleasant time of dealing with Real Madrid on or off the pitch in recent seasons.
The Reds have often been bettered by the Spanish giants in the Champions League and have even lost out to transfer targets to them one more than one occasion.
This summer, Real look set to hurt Liverpool in perhaps the most cruel way yet as they pluck Trent Alexander-Arnold away from his boyhood club on a free transfer.
Just as Liverpool supporters are starting to come to terms with Alexander-Arnold’s decision, rumours have also started to spread that Real Madrid are keen on signing Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister has been phenomenal for Liverpool this season.
earning a new reputation as one of the very best midfielders in Europe.
But after claims that Madrid are plotting an £85m move for the Argentine maestro, Arne Slot has outlined exactly why they can bin the idea straight off the bat.

It is not hard to see why Real Madrid want to sign Mac Allister.
As his left-footed pile driver against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday showed, Mac Allister has got a bit of eveything.

This was something Slot was keen to ram home at his pre-Chelsea press conference on Friday, dismissing rumours that Mac Allister is ‘underrated’ and instead outlining just how key he is to Liverpool’s plans.
“I don’t think he’s underrated by me because he played close to every game,” said the Liverpool head coach.
In our midfield he stands out in terms of tenacity.”
On the one hand, Slot’s comments highlight the aspects which would make Mac Allister so attractive to club like Real Madrid.
But on the other, they show that as Premier League champions Liverpool are in the business of keeping their best players where possible.
There is absolutely no reason for them to sell Mac Allister and, as Slot says, he is one of his absolute most important players in the Liverpool squad.
Madrid could come in with whatever bid they want and the Reds would surely turn it down.
Furthermore, Mac Allister has publicly stated his happiness at Liverpool.
But in terms of Mac Allister, Los Blancos would be better off forgetting him.
