Liverpool might just have a perfect transfer gift waiting for Jeremie Frimpong if he completes his proposed move to Anfield this summer.

Speculation over the Bayer Leverkusen right-back remains at fever pitch amid expectation that he will be sworn in to replace Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, while the Netherlands international plays in the same position as Alexander-Arnold, he remains unlikely to demand his soon-to-be-vacant No.66 shirt.



Still, two (seemingly) preferred options are up for grabs.

Frimpong, who started his career with Manchester City and had Liverpool's arch rivals Manchester United looking at him previously, has worn No.30 throughout his time with Leverkusen - just as he did during a three-year spell at Scottish giants Celtic north of the border.

Of course, there are more important details to get over the line before the 24-year-old arrives at Anfield.

However, in this day and age with brand image so important for elite players, there will be at least one eye on his shirt number choice, not least from supporters wanting to purchase a replica shirt following his proposed transfer.

There are other options for Frimpong to consider, as and when the ink dries, including the only other shirt number (no.71) that he has worn domestically as a professional.

In his international career with the Netherlands so far, meanwhile, Frimpong has worn No.12, No.21 and No.26, with the former being a clear preference in more recent outings.

So with No.12 and No.30 both unassigned at Liverpool currently, he has a perfect transfer gift waiting, unless there are further changes on the way in-house.

Of course, departures could free-up other options for Frimpong but, in addition to No.12 and No.30, he already has plenty of choices ready and waiting; No.6, No.13, No.15, No.16, No.23, No.24, No.25.
