Liverpool managed to get the win but Arne Slot proved that he knew he made a mistake.

The Reds scored yet another last-gasp winner to claim all three points, although this one was, arguably, the least deserving of them all.

Liverpool required a penalty to keep their 100% record intact, with Mohamed Salah keeping his cool in the 95th minute to complete the smash and grab result.

However, as the Reds were pushing to find the winner, Slot made some very interesting choices, with it clear that he was prepared to throw the kitchen sink at the game.

He also proved that not including Alexander Isak in the squad was a big mistake, although one of the choices he made shows just how he will fit in.

There is no doubting that Isak is a high quality signing and will likely walk into the team, but many will be wondering who he comes in to replace.

Hugo Ekitike has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Liverpool, meaning it would be harsh to drop him for the Swede, while the same can be said for the ever-reliable Cody Gakpo.

However, as the Reds were looking for the breakthrough, Slot changed formation so that he had two strikers on the pitch, these being Gakpo and Salah.

Not only does this show that he is willing to do this to accommodate two strikers, meaning Ekitike and Isak can play together, but it suggests Slot made a mistake.

The Swede might not be fully fit but after playing 18 minutes for Sweden in their last game of the international break, it would suggest he can at least play a small part.

So, when they needed a goal most, calling upon Isak would have been ideal, but due to his selection, they simply could not do this.

Of course, it did not come back to bite them after they got lucky for the fourth game in a row, but it really could have been a choice that would have bugged Slot for many weeks to come.

Liverpool may have been poor for a large part of the game, but their performances this season prove to never write them off.

And, for the fourth successive game, they have scored a winner in the final 10 minutes of a game, the first time a side has done this in Premier League history.

First it was Federico Chiesa, then it was Rio Ngumoha, then Dominik Szoboszlai, and now the inevitable Salah.

Performances will have to improve if the Reds are to keep this run going, but for now, Liverpool fans will not mind too much.
